At-Home Craft: Make Your Own Viola

It’s craft time! Join Sarah from the Seattle Symphony’s Education & Community Engagement team as she shows you how to make your own viola.

What you’ll need

  • Viola template
  • Coloring supplies
  • 4 strings cut to 7-inch-long strips
  • Buttons or stickers
  • Pencil or craft stick (optional)
  • Scissors
  • Tape

Steps to make your instrument

  • Print the viola template
  • Color your viola
  • Cut out the viola
  • Tape your four strings near the scroll, and again near the tailpiece
  • Decorate the four pegs with buttons or stickers
  • Adjust your pegs and play your viola using a pencil or craft stick as your bow!
