At-Home Craft: Make Your Own Trombone

It’s craft time! Join Sarah from the Seattle Symphony’s Education & Community Engagement team as she shows you how to make your own trombone.

What you’ll need

  • Trombone template
  • Coloring supplies
  • One pipe cleaner
  • One popsicle stick
  • One paper straw
  • Scissors
  • Tape

Steps to make your instrument

  • Print the trombone template
  • Color your trombone
  • Cut out the trombone
  • Tape the popsicle stick to the back of your trombone as a handle
  • Slide the pipe cleaner into the straw, leaving a little bit poking out at the end. Bend the bit sticking out of the straw into a slide handle.
  • Tape the straw to the back of your trombone, with the slide handle sticking out.
  • Play your trombone by moving the slide in and out using your slide handle!

Don’t have the needed materials? No problem! Check out this website where you can color a trombone online for free.
