Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the Seattle Symphony has made the extremely difficult decision to cancel this season’s Link Up: The Orchestra Swings performances at Benaroya Hall.
Hosted by Seattle Symphony horn, John Turman, students who have been preparing for Link Up in their school music programs can play recorder and sing along to works they have been practicing in preparation for the Benaroya Hall experience. Viewers will explore the intersection of jazz and orchestral music by playing, learning, and listening together with Seattle Symphony musicians from the comfort of their own homes.
In preparation for the Link Up video, we invite families new to the Link Up curriculum to visit the Carnegie Hall Link Up: Activities page. From here you can explore additional Link Up resources, brush up on recorder skills, view music and audio guides for Link Up and additional family programming, and learn more about the orchestra, composers, and composition related to this program.
The Seattle Symphony Link Up broadcast will feature the songs "Come to Play" and "C Jam Blues (Duke's Place)" and the music can be found here
Link Up is a national program of Carnegie Hall’s Weill Music Institute.
