American composer Gernot Wolfgang’s Impressions paints musical portraits of a Venetian carnival, a dream state and the American West, evoking a variety of genres from jazz to country. German composer Paul Hindemith offers a rare pairing in his Trumpet and Bassoon Concerto. Brass players shine in the popular Quintet No. 1 by British composer Malcolm Arnold, who is perhaps best known for his Oscar-winning film score for The Bridge on the River Kwai.
