First Concerts: Meet the Clarinet

Meet the clarinet in Octave 9! Seattle Symphony Clarinet Eric Jacobs will perform short pieces and invite questions from curious little ones in a sensory-friendly environment. Children will learn how to be musical explorers and try out instruments before the show.

Clarinet-Bass Clarinet

Eric Jacobs is the newly appointed Clarinet and Bass Clarinet of the Seattle Symphony. Prior to joining the Symphony, Jacobs was based in Los Angeles pursuing an active career as a chamber musician, orchestral musician and new music advocate.

Colby Cumine MT-BC

Host

Colby Cumine started his musical journey in the seventh grade, picking up the bass guitar to fill in for a middle school band. Colby discovered his true passion for music in the 11th grade, then deciding to find a path that merged helping others with music. He studied music therapy at Seattle Pacific University, volunteering with the Seattle Symphony’s Sensory Friendly Concerts consistently. After graduating in 2017, he interned and now works full time for Snohomish County Music Project, a non-profit serving Snohomish County. He works primarily with children with backgrounds of trauma as well as individuals of all abilities. Colby could not be more excited to be hosting these concerts!
