Music Director Thomas Dausgaard: Roots of Inspiration

Experience Thomas Dausgaard’s bold and passionate artistry in his second season as Music Director of the Seattle Symphony. Thomas leads in-depth explorations of music past and present, following the influences of Hungarian Romani music into Brahms’ Symphony No. 4 and traveling through the remarkable sounds of Tan Dun’s Buddha Passion.

Thomas has appointed Reena Esmail as Composer in Residence and has commissioned new works by Mexican composer Enrico Chapela and Danish composer Hans Abrahamsen. In addition to great symphonies by Beethoven, Berlioz, Dvořák, Mahler and Stravinsky, Thomas returns to his exploration of American composers with Amy Beach’s Symphony No. 2, “Gaelic” and John Adams’ I Still Dance.

Read more as Thomas shares his artistic vision for the 2020–2021 season in his latest interview on Beyond the Stage.
