Creative Collaborators

Music Director Thomas Dausgaard and the Seattle Symphony invite bold creative collaborators to share the stage in the 2020–2021 season. Reena Esmail is Composer in Residence and pianist Khatia Buniatishvili is Artist in Residence. Conductor Emeritus Ludovic Morlot continues his fruitful collaboration with the orchestra.

Reena Esmail is one of today's most original voices, uniting influences from Indian and Western classical music to create powerful, moving scores. As the Seattle Symphony's 2020–2021 Composer in Residence, Esmail will compose two world premieres and collaborate with the orchestra on community projects.


Artist in Residence Khatia Buniatishvili


Khatia Buniatishvili, one of today’s most sought-after pianists, will be the Seattle Symphony’s Artist in Residence for the 2020–2021 season. A beloved favorite of Seattle audiences, she will perform Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1 at Opening Night, present a solo recital in February, and partner with the orchestra on community projects.

Continuing his successful collaboration with the Seattle Symphony, Conductor Emeritus Ludovic Morlot returns in June 2021 to lead a program featuring A Little Summer Suite by esteemed French composer Betsy Jolas and Franck’s Symphony in D minor.
