Inspired by the seasons and topographies, George Winston’s concerts feature a variety of styles including melodic folk piano, New Orleans R&B piano and stride piano. He performs songs from his seasonal favorites Autumn, December, Winter Into Spring and Summer, as well as Peanuts pieces from his Vince Guaraldi tribute albums.
Musical imagination runs wild in Elgar’s Enigma Variations and Brahms’ Tragic Overture, two powerful expressions of private thoughts. Bartók’s First Piano Concerto, with its scintillating folksongs and nocturnal mysteries, shimmers like a Hungarian hall of mirrors in Jean-Efflam Bavouzet’s hands.
One of the world’s truly great violinists makes a rare visit to perform Schumann’s Violin Concerto, a work of angelic beauty. Music Director Ludovic Morlot leads Mendelssohn’s ode to Italy.
From a masquerade waltz to the enchanting tale of the Firebird, your whole family will come together to enjoy this magical concert. Join us post-concert for our annual Fall Carnival featuring games, food and prizes! Costumes encouraged. Classical KING FM Family Concerts are designed for ages 5 to 12. Come early for pre-concert activities in the Samuel & Althea Stroum Grand Lobby, featuring crafts and instrument exploration.
