Cecilia Poellein Buss has been a member of the Seattle Symphony first violin section since 1985. She has a Bachelor of Music from Northern Illinois University, where she studied violin with Shmuel Ashkenasi and chamber music with the Vermeer Quartet. She has an Artist Diploma from the Cleveland Institute of Music, where she studied chamber music with members of the Cleveland Quartet. While in Cleveland she was a semifinalist in the Fischoff Chamber Music Competition. Over her tenure with the Seattle Symphony, Poellein Buss has performed on numerous Chamber series concerts. She has also performed with orchestras in Baltimore, Ohio, Sacramento and, most recently, the BBC National Orchestra of Wales. She enjoys teaching violin, and coaching chamber and orchestra music to youths in Bellevue.
